Meet Our Staff: Anna Scyphers

Meet The Staff: Chrissy Satterfield

We are very excited to welcome a new addition to the CDA Staff this year with Mrs. Anna! Mrs. Anna grew up dancing in the Myrtle Beach area studying jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and tap. She also studied Classical Ballet through the Royal Ballet Academy’s Honors program. She is a graduate of Charleston Southern with a major in Early Childhood Education and has a sincere love for helping young children learn and grow. We love Mrs. Anna’s sweet personality, gumption, and energy in the classroom! Take a moment to read our interview with Mrs. Anna below. We are sure you will love her as much as we do!

Teacher Interview With Mrs. Anna Scyphers

How old where you when you took your first dancing steps?

3 years old

How long have you been dancing?

30 years!

What is your favorite style of dance?

My favorite style to watch is old timey tap and jazz, circa Singing In The Rain and West Side Story.

Tell us about a dance memory that stands out for you.

That’s a tough one… probably seeing my Mom cry for the first time while I was on stage. I felt like she was so proud!

As a child, what do you feel was the most important lesson you learned in the classroom?

With hard work and positivity ANYTHING you want is possible!

Why did you start teaching dance?

Dance has always given me so much joy and happiness. I wanted to keep that going to the next generation and felt compelled to be a part of it.

What do you hope your students take away from your classroom and apply to their daily lives?

It is my utmost goal for my students to know that they are important, good enough and loved. Always.

What question do you wish students would ask sooner rather than later?

ANY and ALL questions are welcome!! I’m available for them at anytime, regarding any topic. 🙂

In your opinion, what makes dance such a great activity and art form?

Dance is a wonderful exercise both physically and mentally. It gets endorphins moving which is proven to promote health for your mind and for your body. The personal creativity in each individual dancer is what makes it beautiful and mesmerizing to watch!

What are you passionate about outside dance?

God and my family! I have a beautiful daughter, Evelynn and a wonderful husband, Cory whom I love both so much. I’m very passionate with my health and love to do Barre3 classes 3-4 times a week. We are also a crazy Disney family and not afraid to admit it!
